Satisfied - For Now

I can't believe it's been an entire month since I've posted here!  It's that time of year that we can all relate to - prepping for the holidays with soaps and other goodies.

I've been taking time to develop an updated packaging idea to take my soap from the farmer's market (left) into the holiday season (below),  I love my new birdie and this should be very easy to color coordinate the tag with the soap - a must for me. Everything's on one tag and the soap is clearly visible.

I'm also very excited that my soaps and candles are now available at  Dew Yah's Urban Homestead Supply shop in historic Parkville, MO.  !   This is such a cool shop - full of all kinds of ideas and supplies that support and encourage sustainable living.  This concept will certainly put a unique spin on your holiday gift giving this year.

I also have merchandise at Flip.Kansas City in Bonner Springs, KS.  Flip is another super cool shop where local DIY'ers of all kinds strut their stuff in a big, colorful display of handmade awesomeness - It reminds me of  Pinterest Heaven come to life! I'm so thankful that these welcoming shop owners have included me as a worthy craftsman.  I'm soaping my little tushy off  and working on some fun holiday soaps - so stay tuned for previews of what's to come!

Oh My Goodness - It's been awhile!

Hello Friends -
Long time no see!  Life sure has a funny way of keeping us guessing, doesn't it?  My soaping has really taken a backseat to life in general, but I'm ready to start dipping my toes back in again.  Now that my husband and I finally have our house fully to ourselves, I've been able to devote an entire finished room in our basement for my soaping area.  It's not fancy, but it's a big space and it's ALL MINE!  I can't even describe how excited this makes me, but there's no need - you get it!

Since the first of this year, I've been struggling with my health; eventually anything beyond the daily basics had started to seem way too overwhelming to tackle.  We'd adopted a young shelter dog just before Christmas -  (Rhett Butler - yes... Rhett Butler! ) but despite how much I loved him, it became too much for me to walk and play with him every day like he needed.  Rhett was blessed, as were we, to go to another family with two young girl…

Sweet as Honey

Hey All! Today I'm sharing a photo of a custom order I created by special request.  This is my Golden Honey soap made with locally produced organic honey and beeswax.  I use fragrance from  Majestic Mountain Sage for this particular soap recipe and it's just perfect for the overall product.
I created this recipe to showcase the natural beauty of the honey, which provides both nourishment and protection for the the skin.  The natural sugars create abundantly creamy lather that leaves the skin feeling silky soft.  The rich clover honey scent is rounded out with just a touch of almond for a soap that's a luxurious treat to use.
I posted photos of this soap a few weeks ago when it was first cut.  As you can see, it has cured to a dark caramel color and the fragrance has really held strong.  Although I still tend to struggle somewhat with stamping my soaps, I think this order turned out great with a true country look.  I know my customer loved it, and I plan on making som…

Bubble Party!

Hey All -  I want to share some pictures of the beautiful bridal shower my sister and I put on for my niece last weekend.  I've had the opportunity to make bridal gifts the past few years for my daughter's bridal showers, but "The Bubble Party" was a brilliant idea - courtesy of our bride, Lauren.  She asked me if it was possible to do a "create your own" bath boutique for her bridal shower.  YES!.. And it turned out to be such fun!

Her idea was to have a hands on fragrance bar where her guests could create a personal gift for
the bride, as well as something to take home
for themselves.  I made three batches of CP soap and Lauren chose to make bath salts, sugar scrubs and body butter, with an assortment of fragrance and essential oil choices. We rounded out the theme with sparkling wines and adorable "bubbly" decorations!

This was a party for all ages - both my grandmother and my granddaughter were each able to make something lovely.  (I think I s…
