Sweet as Honey

 Hey All!
Today I'm sharing a photo of a custom order I created by special request.  This is my Golden Honey soap made with locally produced organic honey and beeswax.  I use fragrance from  Majestic Mountain Sage for this particular soap recipe and it's just perfect for the overall product.

I created this recipe to showcase the natural beauty of the honey, which provides both nourishment and protection for the the skin.  The natural sugars create abundantly creamy lather that leaves the skin feeling silky soft.  The rich clover honey scent is rounded out with just a touch of almond for a soap that's a luxurious treat to use.

I posted photos of this soap a few weeks ago when it was first cut.  As you can see, it has cured to a dark caramel color and the fragrance has really held strong.  Although I still tend to struggle somewhat with stamping my soaps, I think this order turned out great with a true country look.  I know my customer loved it, and I plan on making some more that will be available in early summer.

  1. It really is incredible to think that a flower honey is able to be good for your skin. I personally think that honey is meant to be a natural sweetener for your food or drink. Being able to have a way to use it for your skin is very nice as well. Hopefully this soap smells great as well to match its beauty. Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thank you Jason for your kind words! I love this soap, it's a wonderful facial bar, as well as versatile bath soap. It does smell fabulous - rich and buttery honey scent makes you feel fresh and wonderful.

Happy New Year!

Reorganized Supply Closet :) My oh my how the time flies - it's really been over two months since my last post..!  November and December had me hoppin with holiday craft and sales events, not to mention the entire Christmas season's activities.  And as usual, I was sick in bed for a few days, too.  I'm just now catching my breath and starting to dream up some new soap ideas.  Today has been the first quiet day I've had at home in weeks, full of coveted unstructured time.  After finally getting the Christmas tree and decorations put away, I started a much needed revamp of my soap supply closet to make this small space more functional. Tomorrow I start on the curing room...it's a bit of a disaster, but it feels sooo good to get things in order and start fresh for the upcoming year. I don't normally set New Year's resolutions for myself, but this year I've been inspired by Kenna of  Modern Soapmaking .  She posted a wonderful example of her own planni

Lots of experiments

Today I got the chance to indulge in soaping for most of the day.  I did four batches today, using a technique I've never tried before, courtesy of a great   Youtube tutorial from SophiasNaturals .  She demonstrates an interesting form of thermal transfer that I haven't seen, immediately mixing the lye water into the hard oils until melted.  The liquid oils are added after.  I used this method for all my soaping today and it seemed to work well.  I didn't need to use the stick blender very much at all, which helped me tremendously as I often tend to overmix.  I wanted to attempt the "Holly Swirl", which is basically an in the pot swirl done twice.  Sorta..  I had a lot of half bottles of fragrances, so I did some custom scent blending, too. It was a day of experimenting. Top:  Small batch trying  Sweet Cakes "Aria" .  I used a some ruby mica for a cute little swirl.  It smells so good right now. Middle:  This was my attempt at Holly Swirl.  I have

A glimpse into my personal life

Ethan and Lydia at Nonnie and Pop's As everyone knows by now - I really like making soap - duh!  I thought I'd share a little more about us - our family.  My hubby and I have a large, busy blended family and already have 2 grandchildren - despite our amazingly young appearance (wink)!  There is always something goin on at our house or with our grown kids.  This past week we kept Ethan and Liddy while their mom and dad took a much deserved break.  Being "Irish twins", Ethan is 2 and Liddy is 1. Needless to say they kept us moving for several days!  It's exhausting, but soo much fun!  It really is true that being a grandparent is all about the love and good times. The stress and worry of being a parent is no longer there and it's just pure enjoyment for everyone (most of the time!). We have six kids together, so there should be a whole passel of babies one day.   What Mom and Dad came home to! And here I am over the July 4th weekend, happily peddl
